What is the problem?

Monday 29 April 2024

We are aware some users are experiencing issues with the myjobscotland website causing slow loading times and failure to display your applications list. Some users may also have seen "504 time out" errors and "session expired". This has been caused by increased traffic to the website and increase in number of users on myjobscotland.

NOTE: These issues do not in any way affect applications you have already submitted. As always, any recruitment progress will be sent to you via email - this does not come through the myjobscotland website but from the back end recruitment system which continues to work as normal.

What are we going to do about it?

Our developers have implemented some changes in the evening which means the website is working in part although some errors are still occurring and application lists are not loading. To prevent future issues we have scheduled an upgrade to the website due to deploy during the morning of Tuesday 30 April 2024 which means we will need to take the site offline for around one hour.

10am Tuesday 30 April - Upgrades to the database have been completed and the website should return to normal now.

What can you do about it?

If you are able to, come back after Tuesday morning and try again. The issues have arisen because there are so many people using the website today and with less users it should ease the problem.

If you have already started an application but cannot see it in you saved applications list, there is an alternative way to continue a saved application:

  1. Find the job advert
  2. Once on the advert click "Apply" again
  3. A new application will load and on top of it an orange pop-up will display with details of your saved application.
  4. Press "Continue" within the pop-up to load up your previously saved application.

We are really sorry if this has inconvenienced you in any way and we are working hard to make sure this doesn't happen again. If you are applying for a job which closes on Monday 29 April 2024 you should now be able to access and submit your application.

However if you are still having problems meaning you cannot submit in time we strongly recommend you save any lengthy application responses in a word document on your computer as these will not be accessible after the advert closes. You may want to contact the recruiting organisation directly if you miss the application deadline. The contact details for all recruiting organisations can be found here.
