It has come to our attention that some members of the public may receive job offers made on behalf of myjobscotland, or by people claiming to work for, or be affiliated to myjobscotland (or council, or Scottish Fire and Rescue Service).
At some point during the communication, the aim is to solicit the transfer of significant sums of money to pay for work permits, insurance policies, staff uniforms etc.
Please note that these communications are entirely fraudulent, they do not originate from myjobscotland or the recruiting council/organisation and at no point would we ask a candidate to part with any money during the recruitment process.
Points that may indicate that you are the target of fraudulent recruitment:
- The use of poor English and grammatical errors in communication
- Poorly formatted documentation that does not match the myjobscotland or council/organisation brand
- Communication does not come from an official email address e.g. @councilname.gov.uk or @firescotland.gov.uk
- Emails may include the myjobscotland/council/organisation name and logo without authority (usually the logo is of a poor quality). The name of a genuine recruitment/agency website may be used to make the scam appear more credible.
- Candidates are often requested to contact other companies or professionals, such as lawyers, barristers, immigration officials or travel agencies.
Do not enter into any correspondence with these individuals. Do not give them your personal details or send payment of any kind.
